Citizens' initiatives for the ocean

Our organization is committed to the protection of the ocean and the marine life.

We carry out sailing missions with the aim of taking concrete action at sea but also during missions on shore, in order to inform and raise public awareness about the impact of human activities on the marine environment.

Mission 2023

We are currently preparing our next mission, which will also include a future expedition at sea.

Our objective: to bring the most direct and concrete help as possible through field missions and to help study and protect the marine environment during our expeditions at sea. Our team will work on different methods of analysis and research, in close collaboration with specialists of the marine environment (photo identification, sound surveys via a hydrophone, monitoring, counting, interventions with the public, etc.).

We aim to raise awareness through different programs with our educational team, based on content collected during our missions, which will be distributed to different audiences (popular scientific articles, educational videos, interventions in schools, etc.).

Team

Our team is made of committed citizens who want to act concretely for the protection of the marine environment. Coming from different backgrounds, our team with varied but complementary skills brings together navigators, marine biologists, various actors in education as well as talented photographers and filmmakers to accomplish our missions.

our origins

Arvik’s Ecovoyage is the project behind this new adventure. A tour of the Atlantic on the migration route of the humpback whales to raise awareness about plastic pollution and its impact on the marine ecosystem.

Guénola, Clémence and Charly have been carrying out various citizen actions for 2 years with their sailing boat ARVIK (photo-identification of cetaceans, underwater audio studies and recordings, beach clean-ups, etc). All this while experimenting a zero waste lifestyle and responsible consumption on board.

Following this great initiative which ended with the broadcasting of our first documentary “In the wake of the whales”, Guénola and Charly decided to entirely dedicate themselves to the protection of the ocean and its inhabitants. This is how Arvik Ocean was born!
